Job Description

Uprise Psychology & Wellness is seeking a full-time psychologist and/or doctoral student with a passion and interest for developing their clinical practice in CBT and Third Wave Psychology approaches to join our growing and thriving practice in Ottawa, ON. Given the growing need for services, especially in-person, our clinic is expanding both our team and our physical space to a new, larger location downtown that will better accommodate our current needs and support future growth.

Tasks

    • Provide psychological assessments and psychotherapy services to clients mostly in-person
    • Conduct sessions utilizing evidence-based interventions
    • Develop, implement, and regularly evaluate case formulations and treatment plans according to individual client
    • Use the practice management tools for scheduling and record keeping
    • Provide supporting documents to third parties when necessary
    • Maintain a high level of clinical competence by participating in clinical supervision and/or
      consultation, professional development, and clinical training opportunities
    • Participate in team meetings as well as minor additional practice-related meetings, training and/or tasks

    Requirements

    The successful candidate must:

    • Have obtained or in the process of completing a Doctorate in Psychology (Ph.D., Psy.D.)
    • Be registered with good standing with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario
    • Have professional liability insurance coverage
    • Have significant training and a key interest and commitment to further developing their therapy skills within CBT and Third Wave approaches
    • Have a strong commitment to teamwork and collaboration with other therapists
    • Have experience and/or an interest in developing in the areas of speciality of the practice, including body image concerns, disordered eating and/or perinatal mental health would be considered an asset
    • English is essential, bilingualism would be considered a strong asset
    • Ability to offer psychotherapy services mostly in-person from our downtown office
    • Ability to offer psychotherapy services in the evening (5-8pm) at least twice a week

    • Regular clinical supervision or clinical consultation with Dr. Melisa Arias-Valenzuela, C. Psych., depending on the therapist’s needs

    Uprise Psychology & Wellness is a busy, well-established private clinic specializing in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Third Wave approaches. Centrally located in the heart of downtown Ottawa, we offer a wide range of services, including psychodiagnostic assessments, individual psychotherapy, therapeutic and wellness-based skills groups, supervision, and clinical consultation.

    Founded and directed by Dr. Melisa Arias-Valenzuela, C. Psych., Uprise Psychology & Wellness supports individuals experiencing a variety of concerns, including anxiety and mood disorders, stress and burnout, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, and grief and loss.
