Hello! I’m Julie Prud’homme

Doctoral Candidate

My name is Julie (she/her) and I am a Doctoral Associate under the supervision of Dr. Melisa Arias-Valenzuela’s, C.Psych. at Uprise Psychology & Wellness. I have completed my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Victoria and currently pursuing registration requirements to become licensed as a Clinical Psychologist. I am experienced in providing these services to people struggling with depression, anxiety, OCD, stress and burnout, ADHD, trauma and PTSD, relationship and academic difficulties, perfectionism and low self-esteem. I also have experience in supporting individuals who are going through difficult life transitions, identity exploration, and/or who have endured social injustice traumas, including heterosexism, transphobia, and fatphobia. I am committed to working towards providing an anti-oppressive, affirmative, and empowering space to all individuals

My Approach & Values

My therapeutic approach is collaborative, compassionate, strengths-based, as well as trauma and social justice informed. I like to integrate various evidence-based approaches, including cognitive behavioural therapy, dialectical behavioural therapy, and humanistic therapy, in order to help individuals develop the tools and understanding necessary for them to better overcome their current and future challenges. Ultimately, I hope to facilitate an environment in which people can feel empowered to share their truth and bring about positive change to their lives.

My licenses: I practice under Dr. Melisa Arias-Valenzuela’s license CPO #6862.

My languages: English and French

My availability: I provide in-person and virtual services
