Hello! I’m Amélie Vézina

Doctoral Associate

I am a Doctoral Candidate in Clinical Psychology at the Université Laval and a Doctoral Associate at Uprise Psychology & Wellness practising under Dr. Melisa Arias-Valenzuela’s, C.Psych. supervision. I provide individual psychotherapy to teens and adults (13+). I am experienced in providing assessments and therapy for people struggling with depression, anxiety, stress and burnout, grief, body image and disordered eating, trauma and PTSD, relationship and communication difficulties, procrastination, perfectionism and low self-esteem. I also have special interest and experience helping people experiencing sleep disturbances.

My Approach & Values

My therapeutic approach is genuine, non-judging, collaborative, compassionate, as well as evidence-based. I use an integrated approach with my clients, combining the key concepts of humanistic therapy and cognitive-behavioural therapy, as well as elements of mindfulness and ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy). Working with my clients, I use psychological interventions backed by the scientific literature to help people better understand the roots of their concerns, make meaningful changes to their lives, ease their suffering, and enhance their quality of life. I hold the position of a mindful therapist, meaning that I am sensitive to my personal well-being (as well as my clients) as it is essential to the efficacy of the psychotherapeutic work with clients.

My licenses: I practice under Dr. Melisa Arias-Valenzuela’s supervision (CPO # 6862).

My languages: English and French

My availability: I provide virtual and in-person services.
